EMBRACE
a series of landscape rooms for residential use
Charlottesville, Virginia
This project proposes centralizing the space in the current parking lot of Lambeth in different ways, by taking how people move in relation to space, and reshaping their experience through sculptural walls that will inspire users to move around and experience the different landscapes and atmospheres that the bending walls create. The largely monolithic walls embrace environments to create a series of five exterior “landscape rooms” that provide a place that meets their needs in terms of amenities, as well as create a variety of experiences and an interweaving relationship between interior and exterior spaces. The rooms are nested in the site conditions, while at the same time, the architecture emerges from the land.
